The Red Umbrella -Mixed Media 3-D with Dapoppins

Today I'm so happy to share a sneak peek of one of my 3-D mixed media pictures that I created on a wood 12 x 12 boxed birch panel.

If you haven't guessed, my online name, Dapoppins, come from a combination of my given name, Dana, and Mary Poppin's: that practically perfect nanny created by author P. L. Travers.  I attended Nanny School in 1988 and have been working professionally ever since.

 Mary Poppin's always carried her signature umbrella.

To me umbrellas do more than protect one from the rain.

They are a little bit magic, a little bit fun, and a whole lot of wonderful.

Mixed-media Canvas Board with Dapoppins

Hello everyone.  I am Dapoppins, aka Dana S.  I am so happy to be here.  This is the first time I have ever gotten to directly share any of my work with other people of like obsession.

I have always loved paper in all it's forms.  From books, to wrapping paper, to pretty cards and stationery, so it's not surprising that when scrapbooking became popular again, with all it's paper, tools, and yummy embellishments I would soon become obsessed.

This last year while I focus on my passions instead of frittering away the hours on time-eaters, or dreaming on Pinterest instead of doing,  I began to branch out into mixed-media.  Basically it's still scrapbooking as far as I'm concerned only with a substrate and lots of gel medium.

I am so excited to be with you today to share a peek at a canvas I made with my daughter's help!

Mixed Media Canvas - Peacock and Ballet Inspired by L. Grace Lauer

Hello PTT readers! Grace Lauer here, I am very thrilled to be shearing with you today. As Coordinators  +Jenn Cochran  and I don't get many opportunities to share our own creative works. We are just too busy behind the scenes. Today I found the time so I get to share with you my sneak peek of my new Mixed Media Canvas. It is a 2' x 4 diptych, peacock and ballet inspired piece I did for my daughters room. She modeled the face and body potions for me and she is quite thrilled with the final art piece(s).

Using Veneer and Watered Acrylic Paint

Hi everyone!

Deborah here! With wood veneer and masking all the rage lately, I have combined those two in a card I created using some watered down acrylic paint in a spray bottle.  A very simple and inexpensive way to have various spray colors for your projects!

Chunky can be a good thing

Hi all! I'm back to show off a project I did in my altered book art journal. I have several sketchbooks and mixed media books that I also use, but by far, my altered book is my favourite go-to art journal. There's just something about the size, the text that can peek through and the fact that it's already hard bound. I love how it's getting bulky too.

I love using lots of textures in my journaling and you can see more up close shots on my blog. And when you see the closeups, you'll understand why my altered book is getting so chunky.
